A full range of surgical procedures for body contouring and reconstruction is available, with a focus on excess skin removal after massive weight loss.

With microsurgical expertise in limb reconstruction, soft tissue and nerve repair, trauma reconstruction surgery is available privately to patients from the UK and around the world.

General plastic surgery is also available for minor skin procedures and excisions.

Plastic Surgery after Weight Loss

Abdominoplasty

An abdominoplasty or tummy tuck, is designed to tighten the skin and muscles of the abdomen.

It involves the removal of excess skin and fat that cannot be reduced with diet and exercise alone, to create a flatter, firmer and tighter abdominal appearance.

Fleur de Lis Abdominoplasty

The FDL is a powerful option when you have significant laxity in both the horizontal and vertical planes on the front of your abdomen.

It is generally reserved for patients who have lost significant amounts of weight and are left with lots of loose skin.

Arm Lift

An arm lift is the surgical removal of excess skin on the upper arm, generally following large amounts of weight loss.

Skin laxity is normally seen to run from the chest sidewall all the way down to the elbow.

Breast Lift

Breast lift surgery or mastopexy is the reshaping of the breast following deflation and natural drooping of the breast. It is very common following weight loss.

Generally the larger the breast descent the more incisions are required to reposition the tissue up onto the chest wall.

Breast Reduction

Breast reduction surgery, or reduction mammaplasty, is a procedure designed to remove excess breast tissue and skin to reduce the size of large breasts.

This surgery aims to alleviate physical discomfort, such as back and neck pain, and improve breast shape and symmetry.

Gynaecomastia

Gynaecomastia in men can comprise 3 elements: excess breast tissue, excess skin and excess fat.

Gynaecomastia surgery is the removal of one or more of these from the male chest wall.

Liposuction

Liposuction is a surgical procedure designed to remove excess subcutaneous fat from specific areas of the body that have not responded well to diet and exercise.

It is most commonly performed on areas like the abdomen, thighs, hips, flanks, arms and neck.

Thigh lift

A thigh lift is a surgical procedure designed to tighten and smooth the skin of the thighs, commonly after significant weight loss.

This operation removes excess skin and underlying fat, improving the contour of the thighs and addressing sagging or loose skin.

Plastic Surgery after Trauma

Microsurgery

I offer microsurgical reconstruction using highly specialised surgical techniques to repair soft tissue, with the transplantation of healthy tissue from one part of a patient's body to another injured or deficient part.

Lymphoedema

Lymphoedema is the chronic swelling of an area of the body that can be painful and debilitating.

I offer the full range of treatment techniques from simple compression bandaging, to liposuction to complex microsurgery to improve drainage.

Nerve injury

A nerve injury, often in the hands, arms, legs or feet, can be life-changing, presenting functional problems and debilitating pain.

After careful assessment and diagnosis, I offer bespoke treatment to improve function and sensation.

Hand injury

Hand injuries can be as simple as a laceration to as complex as a major amputation.

With my experience working in trauma for the NHS I can treat all soft tissue injuries of the hand including tendon, nerve and skin repairs along with fractures involving the fingers.

Morel-Lavallée

A Morel-Lavallee lesion (MLL) is a closed soft tissue degloving injury. The normal presentation is ongoing pain or a lump in the thigh or buttock after an episode of severe bruising following injury.

Treatment can reduce pain and improve appearance.

Scar revision

Scars go through a process of change but sometimes get stuck in a phase of inflammation when surgery may help improve the appearance of a scar.

Surgery however can never fully remove the presence of a scar.

Pressure sores

Pressure sores (pressure ulcers, bedsores, decubitus ulcers) are localised injuries to the skin and underlying tissue caused by prolonged pressure.

There can be surgical options for pressure sores from simple wound cleaning to reconstruction.

Limb injury

Following a major limb injury or amputation, patients may endure years of recovery, revisional surgery and rehabilitation.

I can support patients with surgical treatment throughout their journey to help regain as much independence, mobility and function as possible.

Osseointegration

Osseointegration is the process of fixing a metal titanium rod directly into the bone of an arm or leg which passes through a hole in the skin. This allows for a prosthetic to be directly connected to a bone, avoiding the complications of a cup prosthesis and can provide improved comfort, a greater range of motion and improved balance.

General Skin Surgery

Cysts

A skin cyst is a closed sac-like lump under the skin, usually filled with fluid or keratin.

Cysts are generally slow growing and non-cancerous. They can be removed under local anaesthetic in an outpatient clinic.

Moles

A mole is made up of pigment-producing cells which give a brown, black or flesh coloured appearance.

If a mole changes colour, shape, or starts to itch or bleed it requires removal under local anaesthetic and testing.

Lipoma

A lipoma is a benign (non-cancerous) tumor made up of fat tissue. However there are rare forms of cancer that have a very similar presentation to lipomas.

Lipomas are nearly always removable under local anaesthetic, irrespective of size.

Skin Cancer

The main types of skin cancer are: basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma.

All skin cancers require intervention - generally a surgical excision - but in low risk situations can involve treatment with creams.

Warts

A wart is a small, rough growth on the skin caused by a viral infection, specifically human papillomavirus (HPV).

Warts can be treated in various ways from topical cream, to freezing with nitrogen spray and surgical removal.

Skin Tags

A skin tag is a small, soft, benign growth of skin that hangs off the body and is very common, especially as people age.

A skin tag can be removed using a local anaesthetic in under 5 minutes.
